NFL Gamecock Roundup: DiMarco, Swearinger Scouting for Sunday

- Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety D.J. Swearinger has played a crucial part in scouting against the Houston Texans for this week's game. Not only did Swearinger play for the team during his first two seasons, he was obviously close with two of the key contributors to Houston's defense: former Gamecocks Jadeveon Clowney and Johnathan Joseph. "It's definitely different," Swearinger told the Tampa Bay Times. "I can see myself helping when people ask me 'What is this guy like?' I can give my insight, playing with them for two years. I know a little bit about their personnel and some of the things they do."

- Even though the Dallas Cowboys are somewhat ravaged by injuries, Atlanta Falcons fullback Patrick DiMarco is warning his team to prepare for a fight on Sunday. “A wounded dog is a dog that’s going to fight the hardest,” DiMarco told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Wednesday. “We’re going to be prepared for them to come and be ready to fight. It’s going to be a tough game, and we’re going to be ready for them.” DiMarco should be just as concerned with his own output, with only one catch thus far this season.

- Despite not playing a single snap this past week due to "coach's decision," Devin Taylor may find himself playing a prominent role for the Detroit Lions. Star defensive lineman Ziggy Ansah was held out of practice yesterday due to a back injury, and may not be ready to go for Sunday night. With the best defensive lineman on the team, if not the best player on the defense, out for a division rivalry game, this could be the best possible opportunity for Taylor to shine and prove his worth.

- Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer was very complimentary of Captain Munnerlyn during yesterday's press conference. When asked about Munnerlyn's performance and how he "played with leverage," Zimmer noted that the former Gamecock was quick to do what coaches asked of him. "Yeah, he did that last week well," said Zimmer. "He was more disciplined in the things we were asking him to do, being in the right position and that’s important. That position is a hard position because a lot of things happen in there. You’ve got to be involved in the running game, you’ve got be involved in covering guys one on one, you’ve got to be involved in zones. There’s a lot of things that go on with calls that you make and alignments and formation tendencies and things like that and blitzes as well."
