NFL Gamecock Roundup: Clowney Day-to-Day for Week 7

-Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien updated the media with the status of some of his players, and he mentioned briefly that Jadeveon Clowney, who had missed this past Sunday's game, was upgraded as day-to-day.

Clowney had been relatively healthy during the regular season after missing nearly all of the preseason and most of last season, but was injured in the first half against the Indianapolis Colts. Now with not being able to practice on Wednesday, his Week Seven is in jeopardy.

-Brian Hall of the Associated Press had a nice write-up about Captain Munnerlyn's great season and his growth since joining the Minnesota Vikings and head coach Mike Zimmer. Munnerlyn's 2014 was a bad one, and Munnerlyn had ultimately become a better player just halfway through his second season with Minnesota.

“It was definitely new to me,” Munnerlyn said about changing teams for the first time in his career. “I don’t make excuses for my poor play last year or things like that, because I’m not a guy that makes excuses. But I just had to go out there and reevaluate myself in the offseason. Reevaluate myself and get locked back in. That’s something I did this offseason.”

Zimmer obviously had patience with Munnerlyn, understanding his situation, and ultimately it has paid off. “That happens a lot with free agent guys, to be honest with you," said Zimmer. "They come from a different system, especially if they’re an older guy, they come in and they may not play as well their first year in your system. But they tend to figure it out the second year, usually.”
