NFL Gamecock Roundup: Swearinger returns, Taylor moves on

-DEEEEEEEEEEEJAAAAAAAAAAY! Oh man, I am so glad D.J. Swearinger is back on an NFL roster, especially on one with such a good defense. Oh, you didn't hear? Our man D.J. is now an active member of the Arizona Cardinals, backing up Tony Jefferson. D.J. did ultimately play, but didn't record any stats in this past Thursday night game, though our man Captain Munnerlyn did. Munnerlyn and his Vikings came up short against the Cardinals in a close affair, 23-20. Munnerlyn contributed to making sure it stayed close, racking up four solo tackles, including one for a loss.

-Darian Stewart's productivity this season hasn't gone unnoticed in Denver. The Denver Post has an article up on Stewart, elucidating on what he has brought to the team, and what he has meant so far to a secondary with three Pro Bowl starters. As defensive coordinator Wade Phillips said, "He's our quarterback in the secondary."

Fellow defensive back Aqib Talib noted how natural Stewart's place has been in the defensive backfield. "D-Stew fits great," Talib said. "Having two safeties that will come down and pop you like that puts a lot of fear in [receivers'] hearts. We kind of lacked that last year from the free safety. Stew definitely brought that to the table, and you can see how much it's helped us."

-Melvin Ingram is feeling the holiday spirit, and putting his money where his stocking is. Wait, that doesn't make sense. Basically, he's been very charitable as of late. Most recently, Ingram supported 50 families from the San Diego affiliate of Big Brothers Big Sisters by purchasing pre-bagged holiday meals for them and giving each a $200 Walmart gift card. Big ups to the big linebacker for his actions.

-A week after his errant facemask penalty gave Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers the go-ahead second chance they needed, Devin Taylor's blunder is no longer in the rearview mirror, and it hasn't been for some time. "It hit me later that night," Taylor said. "It was just a fluke play. There's nothing else I can do about it other than just keep playing, keep being positive and keep playing forward from here to the rest of the season."

Penalty aside, Taylor had one of, if not his best game of the season, racking up three tackles and two sacks. "I had a game plan going into the game, and then I stuck with it," Taylor said. "That's really all that happened. Especially when you play a team twice in three weeks, there's only so much you can alter or do differently because it's right around the corner."
