Who is South Carolina's most productive defensive player?

By Rixon Lane

The Gamecock defense has been one of the biggest disappointments of the 2014 season.

The unit is ranked at or near the bottom of most SEC statistical categories and has been a source of frustration for fans and coaches alike throughout the year.

With the Gamecocks heading to Auburn to face one of their toughest challenges of the season, here's a look at how South Carolina's defenders have performed thus far.

We could just show you stat sheets, but not all stats are created equal. A fumble recovery is worth more than a regular tackle, just as an interception is more valuable than pass breakup. Therefore, we created a point system and assigned points to each South Carolina defender to determine who has been the most productive.

(Note: This is not a scientific point system and points were only allotted to Gamecock defenders who have played in all seven games this season.)
